Preserve the Environment

Environmental compliance affects both electrical and mechanical engineering companies, especially those involved in automotive design, which have additional laws to contend with. The automotive industry is majorly impacted by the ELV Compliance . Modern automotive design is driven by microelectronics. ELV legislation applies environmental compliance requirements at end of life, on automotive manufacturers.

The ELV Compliance is for the regulations that were developed to help cut down on waste and pollution that is created during the recycling or disposal process of vehicles. To preserve our environment and care for the nature, we must abide by the ELV directive and comply with it. Whenever a vehicle is improperly disposed of, many types of hazardous materials have the chance to enter groundwater, lakes and streams. ELV directive ensure that these materials are properly removed and disposed. Working in conjunction with local and federal environmental agencies, auto-recycling facilities employ the latest technology to preserve the environment for future generation. The directive requires ELV treatment sites to meet stricter environmental standards. It also sets higher reuse, recycling and recovery targets and limits the use of hazardous substances in both new vehicles and replacement vehicle parts. The scrap car issue is driven by the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive which sets dismantler standards to safely drain and recycle fluids as part of vehicle disposal; and sets targets to recover metal and non-metallic material such that a maximum of 5% of the vehicle weight becomes waste to landfill. ELV Directive has a goal of better protecting human health as well as the environment.
